David Perry

I remember your mother being much like my mother. Always interested in what the children were doing with their friends and ferreting out information nonchalantly, not wanting to appear intrusive. But clearly caring. And wanting to be part of their children's lives. I remember picking up your mother and older sister every day to drive them to UW-Oshkosh with me. It meant driving in the wrong direction for 2 miles before finally heading in the right direction, and cold Wisconsin winter mornings that began way too early and too dark lie heavy on my memories. But I also remember the implicit message being conveyed in Arlene's desire to learn, to better herself, and to want her children to better themselves. And as part of the extended Vesperman family, it meant that I had to take care to better myself. You will be missed, Dean's mom.
