Obituary for Fred G Muchmore

Fred was born in Berlin, Germany 1/17/1959. Fred’s father passed away when Fred was 11. As soon as he was able to, Fred worked to help his mother who was struggling to raise him and his younger sister, Gabriela. Fred’s mom met and married Fred’s adopted father, Leonard Muchmore, in the late 70’s. Fred’s mother came to the United States with Lenny when Lenny’s Germany tour ended. In 1981, Fred’s mother asked him to come to the States to stay with her and Lenny. He arrived in Colorado Springs that year with this first wife, Bernhelma, and oldest son, Fred. They were blessed with daughter, Jennifer, and second son, Matthias, a few years after making Colorado Springs their new home.

Fred attended Pikes Peak College while working at Oldsmobile. He received his AA degree in automotive from Pikes Peak College and Mater Mechanic certificate through Oldsmobile. When Oldsmobile closed, Fred opened his first automotive repair business, Mr. Emission. In 1989, he accepted an offer from Bear Automotive to move to Fullerton, CA as a trainer/ product specialist for the California’s BAR-90 Emission program. The California’s state-wide Emission Initiative was a huge success. Fred was promoted to European Product Manager in 1991 and moved to Strasbourg, France that year with second wife, Jeanne Muchmore. Upon successful introduction of Bear Automotive’s product line, Fred and Jeanne returned to Colorado Springs in 1993 to be near the couple’s aging mothers.

Fred opened his second car repair business, Car-Care 2000, in 1993. He later sold the car repair business to open FM Constructions in the late 90’s. The construction business proved challenging and he closed it in 2000 to work in the high tech industry, first with Compaq Computers the Quantum. When Compaq and Quantum closed their operations in Colorado Springs, Fred opened his own technology company, USWebtek.com. At the time of his passing, he was actively managing and operating the web hosting and development business.

Fred was a brilliant and generous individual. He donated regularly to a number of charities, his favorite being The Smile Train, Make-A-Wish and Cal Farley’s. He had a passion for all things complex and challenging. His hobbies included flying, boating, photography, motorcycles, and various fighting arts: boxing, kickboxing, and Muay Thai. He competed in the boxing circuits in his teens and won the Berlin Champion title twice. He indulged his love for the ocean while in California with a 24-foot Sea Ray named “Let’s Get Away” docked at Mission Bay, San Diego. While running Car- Care 2000 in Colorado Springs, he explored his intrigue for the sky by obtaining his Private Pilot license with the Pikes Peak Flying Club. As the demands of the family increased in his later years, he turned to photography to satisfy his ever-active imagination. He taught and shared his enjoyment of motorcycles and fighting arts with his youngest son, Christopher Muchmore.

Fred was preceded in death by his mother, Gisela Kuley; father, Gerhard Hauptvogel; and first wife, Bernhelma Key. He leaves behind his loving wife, Jeanne Muchmore; sister; Gabriela Platt; brothers, Ray and David Muchmore; daughter, Jennifer Maughon; and sons Fred, Matthias and Christopher Muchmore. He is also survived by granddaughters Lisa and Madison Muchmore and Jaylee Maughon; grandsons Andreas and “Little” Matthias Muchmore and Joseph Maughon; nieces Anja Platt and Andrea Warfield; and nephews Alex Warfield and Vincent and Michael Muchmore.
