Audrey Jean Kalmbacher-MacDonald

January 23, 1929 - October 22, 2018

Audrey was born in Danbury Connecticut on January 23, 1929. She was the daughter of a Blue Blood yankee and a strong German immigrant. Audrey was the 3rd of 4 girls who lived and supported the family dairy farm. She attended catholic school and played basketball in high school. After high school graduation, Audrey joined the Women’s Army Air Corp in 1947.

Audrey married 3 times and was blessed with 4 amazing children. During her life time she traveled from Virginia, to Washington, to Illinois, to Kansas, to Germany, to Colorado. Audrey worked in many places, Emerson Electric, Ampex, The Broadmoor World Arena, Circle K and Walmart. Later in life, Audrey moved to a 6 acre lot with a view of Pikes Peak in Peyton, Colorado. Audrey, being the strong woman that she was, out-lived all 3 husbands.

Audrey remained highly active with her four children, eight grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. She loved outdoor activities such as camping, fishing, hiking, and running. Her friends, family, and “several” cats remained a central part of her life. She set age-group records in the Bolder Boulder 10K for 86, 87, and 88-year-old females. A week prior to her passing, Audrey achieved 300 runs at Jack Quinns Running Club. GO Audrey!!!!

Audrey is survived by her son, Jeffery MacDonald, wife (Beth); daughters, Suzanne McNelly, husband (Patrick); Karen Barry, husband (Tim); Theresa Jergens, husband (Troy); sister Ann Salvia and five nieces and nephews. The family has come full circle with the addition of 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
