Joe Nakai, age 63, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 20, at Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was born in Colorado Springs to Fumio Nakai and Mary Mitsuko Nakai. Joe was a 1973 graduate of Manitou Springs High School and a 1977 graduate of the University of Colorado Boulder.

Joe worked for Peak Health / UnitedHealthcare which moved his family to Minnesota. He eventually returned home to be near the mountains. Joe lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures including golfing, enjoying live music and satisfying his sweet tooth.

Joe is survived by his older brothers Bob and Jim (Rhonda), son David, daughter Andrea (Sheffield), former spouse Amy and many loving extended family members. A private service was held Tuesday, April 24 at Crystal Valley Cemetery to celebrate Joe’s life.
