Obituary for Kris Andrew TOKARSKI
Kris A. Tokarski
December 23, 1963 ~ August 28, 2017
Kris A. Tokarski, 53, died August 28, 2017 at home in Florissant, Colorado after battling cancer. He was preceded in death by his father, Bernard Tokarski. He is survived by his mother and step-father, Alma and Dave Deruntz; his husband, Bobby Plummer; his three brothers and one sister, Clifford and Lourdes Tokarski, Debra and Michael Golden, Jeffrey Tokarski and Valerie Baker, Kevin Tokarski and (Ret.) Capt Beverly Kelley; his step siblings, David and Denise Deruntz, Steve and Kim Shelby, Scott and Brenda Deruntz; multiple nieces and nephews; and great nieces and nephews.
Kris was born in San Luis Obispo, California, and grew up in Bowie, Maryland. He won the Junior National Championship for the snare drum solo. After graduating high school, Kris joined the marching band at the University of Maryland. He also served in the United States Army.
In 1995, Kris moved to Colorado to be closer to his parents. Kris attended Colorado Technical University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering. He had a successful career at Verizon for over 20 years and thoroughly enjoyed his work.
Kris was an avid swimmer and swam over 300 miles last year. Kris also enjoyed dancing, but above all laughing! Kris will be remembered for his exuberant and contagious laugh. He will always be loved and missed.
There will be a Celebration of Kris’ life at 10:00am on Friday, September 1, 2017 at Evergreen Funeral Home 1830 E. Fountain Blvd Colorado Springs, Colorado 80910. All are welcome! Flowers can be sent to the funeral home and donations can be made in Kris’ name to the Teller County Regional Animal Shelter.
