Obituary for Dorene May Zieman

Dorene Zieman passed away August 30, 2015.
She was born Oct. 15, 1923, in Canova, SD, to Oscar and Florence Staley. After graduation from Burbank High School she attended Dakota Wesleyan College in Mitchell, from which she obtained a teacher's certificate. She taught business and coached basketball in Midland, where she met Zane Zieman. They married on Sept. 16, 1950, and to this union five children were born. In 1966, the family moved to Martin, where Dorene was active in Eastern Star and the Kengsington Club. She worked at the Dairy King, the Crossroads Inn Motel, and ran the Triple Z store with her husband.
Survivors include her children: Zarene DeKraai of Colorado Springs, Lee of Martin, John (Debra) of Newton, IA, Zandra (Angus) Zieman-Foster of Colorado Springs, and Zelma (Roger) Zieman of Seattle, WA; six grandchildren: Zach DeKraai, Abby Zieman, Josh Zieman, Eliza Foster, Nina Foster, and Oscar Scholten; and two sisters-in-law, Sally Staley and Enid Roland.
Dorene was preceded in death by her parents; brother, John Staley; twin sister, Florene Gassman; brother-in-law, Myron Gassman; and her husband, Zane Zieman.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Oct. 17, at the Lindsey Memorial Presbyterian Church in Martin.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Martin Senior Center.
