Obituary for Margaret Louise Konik

Margaret Konik
September 18, 1928 - August 5, 2015

Margaret (Jones) Konik, after a long battle with Alzheimer's, passed away on August 5th, 2015, at age 86 in Colorado Springs. She had lived in Manitou and Colorado Springs since 1962.

She was born September 18, 1928 in Presho, South Dakota to John B. and Grace Jones (Bailey). After attending Lyman County schools she went to business school, and became a lifelong business woman, owning and running a number of small businesses.

She went back to school when her children left home, earning a Psychology degree from the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs in 1978, the year her son Don graduated from Law School.

She loved to travel, around North America and internationally.

Margaret was a cheerful, optimistic person, always looking for an opportunity to help someone. She provided shelter for extended family, people down on their luck, and a refugee family from Viet Nam that included three generations.

Margaret is survived by her two brothers, John and Ken Jones of South Dakota, her four children and their spouses Kathy (Curt) Nimz, Don (Betsy) Jordan, David Jordan (Sue Sharkey) and Karen (Brad) Densmore. She has four stepchildren from her marriage to Edward Konik, Ann Konik, Dave Konik, Teresa (Reed) Osborne and Paul (Janine) Konik. She has nineteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by husbands Donald Olson and one year ago by her husband of 35 years, Edward Konik.

There will be a service on Saturday, August 15th at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church at 10:00 AM, followed by burial at Fairview Cemetery.
