Obituary for Ruth Ella Gray

Ruth Ella Gray, 97, went home to be with The Lord on Wednesday, March 18, 2015.

Ruth was born on July 8, 1917 in Dallas, TX. Her parents were David and Gertrude Byrd Rosborough. She graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in Dallas, TX. She attended Bishop College in Marshall, TX.

Ruth moved from Dallas to Colorado in 1952. She was a licensed cosmetologist and owned her own beauty salon in Colorado Springs. She was also a licensed real estate agent.

Ruth joined and became a member of People's United Methodist Church in 1954. She served faithfully as a communion steward, church treasurer and a member of United Methodist Women. Ruth loved the Lord and her favorite song was "Pass Me Not O Gentle Savior". Her favorite scripture was "Honor thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which The Lord thy God giveth thee". Exodus 20:12 (KJV)

Ruth was well traveled having lived in Mannheim, Germany traveling abroad as a military spouse. Her husband Waymon Gray proudly served 21 years in the United States Army.

Ruth was known as a caregiver going out of her way to help others in any way that she could. She especially loved her church, animals, babies and children. Her favorite color was purple. She loved going to Cripple Creek, gardening and her beloved mountains.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Isaac O. Daniels, her current husband Waymon Gray, her daughter Artiemelia and husband Ron Bauer, son in law Vernon O. Lawson Sr, siblings Minnie Criner, Portia A. Marks, David, John and Byrd Rosborough and granddaughter Denise Hayes.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories, her daughter Ruth M. Lawson of Springfield, Oh, six grandchildren, Derrick Davis, Carmelia Davis, Andrea Birdlow, Dwight Davis of Colorado Springs, Co, Meredith R. Lawson-Rowe (Rondal Jr) of Reynoldsburg, Oh and Vernon O. Lawson of Decatur, Ga, seventeen great grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren, a sister Freddye M. Scott of Berkley, Ca., a special "adopted" granddaughter Jacque "Whoopie" Brunson of Fountain, Co, a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Ruth leaves a legacy of faith, strength and love for all those who knew her in her lifetime. Well done, thy good and faithful servant...enter into the joy of The Lord.
