Obituary for Joyce Louise Northrop

Long time Colorado Springs resident Joyce L Northrop passed away at age 82 Wed May 28, 2014 after a long battle of dementia.

Joyce is survived by her son Jimmy D Northrop, and her daughter Kathleen J Colgate (A. David), grandson Kevin D Colgate (Shannon), seven great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sister Betty L Phelps, sister and brother in law Don and Sybil Wylie and long time friend Aloha J Natwick.

She was preceded in death by her devoted husband Conrad K Northrop and her parents. While working at
Woolworths, she met my father a soldier stationed at Camp Carson. They were married 45 years. They raised their family in Colorado Springs, CO

Joyce was a grocery checker at Miller's Supermarket for 20 years. She was talented in sewing and began making Barbie Doll and Cabbage Patch Doll clothes. She sold them through the Crafters Guild for many years, then later went into business at the Blue Columbine Shop in Old Colorado City. She loved gardening and had beautiful flowers in her yard for many years. She also loved her trips to Cripple Creek.

Viewing will be June 6, 2014 between 5:00 pm to 7:00pm at Blunt Mortuary, 2229 W Colorado Ave., Colorado Springs, Co 80904.Services will be held June 7, 2014 at 11:00 am at Blunt Mortuary.

Mom, your outgoing personality brought so much joy and laughter to many, may you now rest in peace.
